Description darkxst 2012-10-15 23:13:57 UTC
When adding a gmail account via the accounts wizard, the account fails to get created.

As a workaround to this issue, you can uncheck the 2 checkboxes for adding contacts and calender and account creation will then work. Manually adding google contacts and calender afterwards also works fine.

I tested this with a jhbuild of git master and can reproduce the issue.

Retested with Evolution 3.6.1 using Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Accounts -> Add, providing a GMail address and letting Evolution figure out the server details, and leaving the calendar and contacts options checked.

Worked fine for me. Evolution set up access to GMail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts.

Need more details about the failure before I can investigate any further.

Matthew,
It does correctly detect server details etc, however when leaving either of the 2 checkboxes selected, then it just silently fails. i.e. the wizard continues to the final page and says it has completed successfully, however on returning to evolution no accounts at all have been added.

Unchecking both the checkboxes results in the same response from the wizard (completed successfully) but then when returning to evoltuion the mail account has been successfully created.

Also It doesn’t seem to produce anything useful in any of the logs or stdout.

exact same issue occurs with yahoo email accounts (and its single checkbox for contacts/tasks).

this ended up being a packaging issue in evolution-data-server
