GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686114
add untranslated word count in stats
Last modified: 2015-06-01 10:02:41 UTC
in addition to string counts, the amount of untranslated words is a good metric for translators to evaluate the amount of work to be done. Some discussion in this thread https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2012-October/msg00054.html > To sum up what I mean, and in a more visual way, I would preserve the > string counts the way people are used to, and add the word count for > untranslated strings (in red) : > > 15% 3545 1884 16945 (22653)
Came across of this ... where would you put that? Some links to examples would be nice :) I would say that in the general numbers at[1] would be cool, but on every single row, could be probably too much data packed there. The same for [2], maybe on the tooltip (where we are showing "translate/fuzzy/untranslate"? On the translation details, like [3] stats regarding words are shown already. On module details, like [4] there's already the total words in the table headings, and as seen on this one, having two columns (ui and docs) doesn't give that much space left. Creative ideas are welcome though :) [1] http://l10n.gnome.org/languages/ca/gnome-3-8/ui/ [2] http://l10n.gnome.org/teams/ca/ [3] http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/Gtk-UI/master/po/ca [4] http://l10n.gnome.org/module/totem/
As Gil said, we do indeed already have word counts in the most relevant places. For lack of new input for a while, I'm closing this. Feel free to reopen if you can come up with the suggestions Gil asked for.
