Description Heinz Repp 2012-10-10 15:53:05 UTC
Not sure - but I think so - earlier versions were able to open those files - renamed plain zip files - so this might be a regression.

When opening any of those zipped document files with file-roller (either via file open, open from nautilus or from command line (gnome-open $file or file-roller $file) file-roller complains it can not open due to unknown archive type. But they are just the most basic zip files, and if any file-roller should be able to handle those.

If not clear: this comes handy when examining the contents of those files for various reasons, e.g. to check the XML or images within.

Btw: the gnome file selector lists e.g. odt files when set to 'all archives', so it is pretty surprising when file-roller refuses to open this "archive".

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
