Description acutbal 2012-10-02 15:09:13 UTC
Hello!!

Rhythmbox 2.98 crashes when I try to play a mp3 file. This is the Terminal output:

albert@HPG62:~$ rhythmbox
TypeError: can't convert return value to desired type
Violación de segmento (`core' generado)
albert@HPG62:~$

It seems to miss mp3 plugin but, in the other hand, I can play mp3 files with other media players like totem or vlc.

Best regards!!

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Hello!!

Thanks for your help!!

Finally I've found why Rhythmbox crashes, it is "replayGain" fault. When I disable the plugin I can play mp3 without problems.

Thank you and best regards!!

Nice! A stacktrace would still be welcome though. :)
Comment 5 acutbal 2012-10-02 17:09:53 UTC
Ok!! I'll done, but tomorrow, now I don't have more time.

Thank you very much and best regards!! :-D

Hello!!

As I promised, hope this helps. If you find something wrong please feel free to tell me, it's the first time that I do a stactrace.

Best regards!!

I'm experiencing the same bug. 2.98 on Precise 64-bit.

Whenever I have the ReplayGain plugin enabled and try to play back a file, Rhythmbox crashes. It's not limited to MP3s, I see it happening with FLACs as well.

A full backtrace of this crash

Hello,
I confirm that it's better without 'ReplayGain'.
I just added a full backtrace of this crash. I hope it will help :)

I reported Bug 690160 because I thought it was different.
Anyway, for me, everything works fine, but the crash happens when you toggle (enable or disable) the replay gain while playing back an mp3.

If you pause first, then toggle, then resume playback, there is no problem.

I had the same bug on Rhythmbox 2.99.1 on Fedora 19. When I disable ReplayGain plugin, I can use Previous and Next buttons.
