GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 685297
GOA now uses OAuth 2.0 for GMail
Last modified: 2013-09-13 01:07:24 UTC
For GNOME 3.8, we have migrated GOA to use OAuth 2.0. Should use SASL_XOUTH2 for IMAP and SMTP: https://developers.google.com/google-apps/gmail/xoauth2_protocol See bug 661065
Committed an untested prototype based on the specification: http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=1ed5b89c02656c9172957980c85e412a27b2e6a2 I'll give it some testing once I get GOA upgraded to 3.7.x.
The XOAUTH2 module worked on the first try, but the online-accounts module in E-D-S required some extra help transitioning existing accounts. http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution-data-server/commit/?id=8099d1e3002a83298651a326ee6cd8dc63c4c6d3 But GMail + XOAUTH2 is working now.
