GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 684672
Rotation tool does not rotate
Last modified: 2012-11-06 21:09:13 UTC
I was trying to rotate a layer in GIMP. I chose the layer, I clicked the "Rotate" tool, I entered "90" degrees, pressed enter, aaaaand.... Nothing happened. There was the green loading ball, as usual, but... the layer remains the same! Manual rotating with mouse works perfectly, but typing values does nothing.
Try following: Click on any other window in Gimp, then click on the rotate-window again so it gets the focus. Enter the desired degrees and hit "Enter". Now the layer shoud rotate by the desired angle. by the way: what is the "green loading ball"?
In case that you really use version 2.8.0: Please upgrade to version 2.8.2 and report back. Thanks!
@Hartmut: the green loading ball seems to be the new progress indicator (see http://www.gimp.org/release-notes/gimp-2.8.html, the image in the section 'Tools Drawn With Cairo') Is this a duplicate of bug #677765?
I rethought this problem, reproduced with GIMP 2.8.2 on Win7, 32 bit, and compared with bug #677765. The reporter entered the degree 90° and then pressed ENTER (in bug #677765 TAB was pressed. Thus it's no duplicate). For me it works: after pressing ENTER the layer is rotated immediately. Andrewmyles, if you try again with the current GIMP 2.8.2 from gimp-win.sourceforge.net, does it work for you now, too? Your answer within the next 6 weeks is appreciated. Thank you.
Can't reproduce that either. One thing to note is that entering 90 and then pressing enter will only rotate the preview, the actual rotate still has to be confirmed via the dialog...
