Description Reiner.Proels 2012-09-19 10:30:50 UTC
Why is it no longer possible to use the save as for saving as jpg e.g.? Now with export the image keep unsaved and during closing a silly box wants to save, but it was saved with export. This is very boring if you use gimp in combination with sane for scanning. In the past I scanned documents saved them as jpg and during I saved the last the next was scanned. The title said me whta was saved and what was unsaved, now all is every time unsaved and the stupid box at the end occurs. Can you at leats at a configuration to suppress the warning that a document is not saved (the fact is that is saved but gimp has forgetten it)?

Regatds
Reiner

If you're using GIMP just to scan files and export them, you should check if you should be using another tool, or maybe Xsae standalone (e.g. if you don't make further adjustments to them).

The changed behavior of save&export was implemented with bug #581655

I was just about to close this as a dup of bug 676051...

So we have a good example why open source will NEVER replace Windows or Mac on the desktop.
The developers have no sense for user requirements and no interest in making good applications. Thanks for the tip using an other software! Yes I do a little bit with the images and I was used to gimp but I will switch back to commercial solutions (Photoshop)

Exactly! Everybody else on the interwebs is wrong except for you, and a disagreement in one single decision clearly proofs that developers don't care about "good applications" in general! So we have a good example why open source will NEVER make all users happy! Anyway, enjoy paying for Photoshop.
