GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 684014
A few outstanding issues in the internationalisation
Last modified: 2012-09-18 15:51:46 UTC
Hallo folks-devs I have just translated folks and I would like to thank you for a well documented module i terms of translator comments. I did however stumble on a few issues. #. The timeout after which we consider a property change to have failed if we #. * haven't received a property change notification for it. #. seconds #. Translators: This should be translated to the name of the “Starred in #. * Android” group in Google Contacts for your language. If Google have not #. * localised the group for your language, or Google Contacts isn't available #. * in your language, please *do not* translate this string. #: ../backends/eds/lib/edsf-persona-store.vala:63 msgid "Starred in Android" msgstr "Starred in Android" When you say "don't translate this string" do you them mean leave it empty or copy the msgid down to msgstr. I am just asking because the first option, leave it empty is really incinvinient solution for us, since we will then have to keep track of that this particular module is actually finished even though it is listed as missing a string. If it is in fact this you are asking for, please reconsider changing it to the second solution. If you did in fact mean copy down the msgid to msgstr, then everything is fine, except maybe expressly write that in the comment. #: ../backends/eds/lib/edsf-persona-store.vala:1306 #, c-format msgid "Changing the ‘%s’ property failed due to reaching the timeout." For this one string it would be nice to know what would be substituted in, since e.g. in Danish we would probably have to concatenated and whether to do that with or without a - would depend on what it actually says. Hope you find the time. Thanks in advance Kenneth
(In reply to comment #0) > When you say "don't translate this string" do you them mean leave it empty or > copy the msgid down to msgstr. We mean to copy the msgid to the msgstr. I’ve updated the comment to be more explicit about this. > For this one string it would be nice to know what would be substituted in, > since e.g. in Danish we would probably have to concatenated and whether to do > that with or without a - would depend on what it actually says. It’s a GObject property name, e.g. “full-name”. It isn’t translated. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about these problems! commit 0c1c98631e6a8e6c343e40d2fa32eec30c5c1de9 Author: Philip Withnall <philip@tecnocode.co.uk> Date: Tue Sep 18 16:49:32 2012 +0100 Bug 684014 — A few outstanding issues in the internationalisation Add/Expand some translator comments in the EDS backend.
