Description Sri Ramkrishna 2012-09-11 03:42:45 UTC
I talked this over with Ray Strode on IRC. It seems that over time the start up time from gdm screen to when the gnome-shell is completely loaded has gotten longer from 2.4 or maybe 2.2. On a system running i7 with all solid state job, the boot up time is faster than the time it takes gnome-shell to load from login screen.

What is required is that we do a bootchart analysis that Federico usually does from time to time to re-tune. It's too late for 2.6, but we can definitely target this for 2.8.

GNOME 2? Should I just mark this as OBSOLETE, guys?
Comment 2 Sri Ramkrishna 2012-09-11 05:58:46 UTC
Sorry, I meant 3.4 or 3.2 not 2.4 and 2.2. GNOME Shell of course didn't exist then. :-)

Hi Sri, I already did most of that analysis work in bug 645756 :) help welcome there.
