GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 683164
Move the shield up by scrolling the mouse wheel
Last modified: 2012-09-03 15:21:34 UTC
Right now, (gnome-shell-3.5.90-2.fc18.x86_64) the lock screen shield can be lifted up by: - pressing the esc key - dragging it up the screen I'm personally having a hard time doing the latter on a touchpad, so it's good that the keyboard shortcut is available. However, when I first found it hard to drag it up, the first thing that popped into my mind (before knowing about the esc key) was to try lifting the shield by scrolling the mouse wheel [1] up. Unfortunately it didn't work, which left me disappointed. I think that would make a nice addition for desktop / laptop users. [1] By "mouse wheel" I of course mean the actual wheel on a mouse, or the edge of a touchpad, or even the two-fingers-scroll on a more modern touchpad.
Created attachment 223198 [details] [review] ScreenShield: Allow lifting up the curtain with the mouse wheel On a traditional mouse, or with edge-scrolling on a touchpad, it just feels natural to unlock by scrolling up. Personally, I must say this is really nice. One good wheel scroll, and bam, you're on the unlock dialog.
Review of attachment 223198 [details] [review]: Looks good and makes a lot of sense to me. Asked Jimmac for a design ack fine to push with an ack from the designers.
