GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 683074
Missing currency: New Taiwan Dollar
Last modified: 2018-05-22 11:48:39 UTC
I'm using version 6.4.1.1 of gcalctool and can't find the Taiwan New Dollar currency in the Financial mode: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_dollar I suggest this website as a reliable source for an exhaustive list of existing currencies: http://www.xe.com/. PS: This bug has also been reported here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcalctool/+bug/1043685
Hi, thanks for reporting this. I had a quick look and I can't find a reliable feed for the exchange rate. We can't use sites like xe.com because they don't allow us to use their data without conditions we can't expect. We currently get data from the IMF and the ECB but if someone can find a feed for TWD then we can add it too.
Hi, How about this feed (Search for "TWD")? https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/list/0Av2v4lMxiJ1AdE9laEZJdzhmMzdmcW90VWNfUTYtM2c/2/public/basic?alt=json I found it here on http://currencyfeed.com/ and maybe it would be possible to get forex data directly from google?
I saw that one too when investigating this bug. I don't know if it's reliable/legal to use - this is getting the google data from a non-google person. It would be great if we can confirm that is good to use (or better still get it from google directly).
I think we have a good candidate API here: $ curl -s 'http://www.google.com/finance/converter?a=1&from=USD&to=TWD' | perl -ne 'next unless s/<(div|span) [^>]+>//g; print if s|</span>.*||' 1 USD = 29.1880 TWD
