GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 682394
Don't show Screenshots in background selection
Last modified: 2012-08-21 21:00:21 UTC
When I'm choosing a background and select `Pictures Folder`, I'm always having problem finding a some picture between all those screenshots I've made recently. I can't imagine any person who would want to use some screenshot as background image, and even if they do they can use [+] button to add it explicitly, while I cannot use a [-] button to remove it. Finally I always end up going to Pictures directory, deleting all my screenshots and only then changing my background image. Several possible solutions: 1. gnome-settings-daemon: *. Ignore all files that use pattern `Screenshot from…` 2. gnome-screenshot: *. Save screenshots into XDG_USER_DIRS['pictures']/Screenshots. gnome-settings-daemon: *. Ignore all files in Screenshots directory. P.S. I can't decide to mark it as normal bug or enhancement, as it is actually an enhancement, while at same time it is a usability and UX bug. P.S.S. I know you can select where to save screenshot in app, but I'm yet to have any success in making it save somewhere else when screenshoting by using shortcuts.

So, if I understand correctly it is "fixed" by http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-control-center/commit/?id=a3055b3202ca and have already landed into Gnome 3.5 series. Still, that fix (but still is better than filtering by name) has a small flaw – it will not filter screenshots made by another screenshoting tools. But then, again, I don't think there'll be anyone using gnome-control-center if they don't use gnome-screenshot. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 672925 ***
