We have settings in the preferences dialog that are completely inert
on the default GNOME theme. It isn't clear why there are two separate
types of settings for text files and "other files" anyway.

I think we should merge them.

Especially considering that the default GNOME theme does not do
text previewing it doesn't make sense to have two different settings.
