GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 681662
Keyboard no longer pops up when a text entry field is focused
Last modified: 2013-01-03 01:04:58 UTC
This used to work in GNOME 3.2/Fedora 16. In GNOME 3.4/Fedora 17 it doesn't.
In Ubuntu Quantal, I had to install libcaribou-gtk-module and libcaribou-gtk3-module for this to work. However, sometimes it still doesn't work. For example, it works when I click into Epiphany's address entry, but not if I click on a text entry inside a web page...
We used to have some focus timestamp issues which caused the keyboard to ignore showing requests, but I believe they're fixed in current master. Also, as mentioned, consider that some applications (in particular gtk2 and qt) may need a restart after enabling the on screen keyboard to pick up a11y and caribou settings correctly. Please reopen if you still experience the bug.
