Description nathanael 2012-08-01 22:42:41 UTC
I was trying to explain to someone how to turn the lock feature off. I *thought* it used to be part of the screen saver so instructed them to type screen and they'd see screensaver or something. Brightness and Lock obviously came up instead. However it seems like that is poorly named since there is nothing on that screen to do with brightness control - at least not for me.

I realize that the brightness slider shows up if the hardware supports it or something like on a laptop. However I wonder if having an entire screen for brightness makes sense. Also calling it brightness when there are three other things there... all in all a tough problem but thought it was oddly named - since the first name may or may not even be there.

Coincidentally, this thread hit gnome-shell list today:

The screen panel will shortly be gone, replaced by the Privacy and Power panels.
