GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 680849
Selection should be preserved when search is cancelled
Last modified: 2012-09-17 17:39:53 UTC
See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=680118#c4 "There is no reason why we can't make the selection process even better than it was with type ahead. Type ahead was really ineffective unless you were absolutely sure what the name was. And that is far less common than you may think. Having a fuzzy matching and potentially on more than just the filename we can make this much more effective . To accommodate the select a file in context use case we can do a few things. One of them could be to ensure that a file selected while in the search results view is still selected (and in view) when the search is cancelled."
I pushed a fix for this now to git master.
