Description Colin Walters 2012-07-30 14:55:31 UTC
It'd be very useful GNOME users had a GNOME-related place to put git repositories without cluttering the current flag namespace.

For example, I'd like to put my guadec slides in git.gnome.org/users/walters.

This should maintain the "is related to GNOME" part about having repositories in GNOME - i.e. we're not github.

Besides my GUADEC slides and stuff, I have some of the gnome-ostree stuff in github just to avoid massively cluttering gnome git, but I'd like to "stage" this in users/walters so that at least anyone in GNOME could commit.

s/flag namespace/flat namespace/

I like the idea; I'd also like if the ACL of the repositories under username/* were set up so that only username had write access to them.

Maybe it could be tied to foundation membership somehow? Like if you are foundation membership AND a git account you will be able to have public git repositories?

That would be a great way to reduce the "move to github" meme and to be able to wait some more until someone comes up with a gitorious self-hosted instance (could that be the next fundraising campaign for GNOME?)

The GNOME Infrastructure Team is currently migrating its bug / issue tracker away from Bugzilla to Request Tracker and therefore all the currently open bugs have been closed and marked as OBSOLETE.

The following move will also act as a cleanup for very old and ancient tickets that were still living on Bugzilla. If your issue still hasn't been fixed as of today please report it again on the relevant RT queue.

More details about the available queues you can report the bug against can be found at https://wiki.gnome.org/Sysadmin/RequestTracker.

Thanks for your patience,

the GNOME Infrastructure Team
