Description Fred Clausen 2012-07-10 12:05:46 UTC
Hello,

Platform Info:

Distro - Fedora 17 (fully updated as of this ticket creation)
Gnome - 3.4.2
Browser - Firefox 13 with "Gnome Shell Integration" (nswrapper_64_64.libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so)

Symptom:

I can't seem to install any extensions off the main gnome3 extensions site - the slider moves to the "on" position but then nothing happens and at page refresh the extension is not present.

The xsession log shows -

JS ERROR: !!! message = '"info is null"'
JS ERROR: !!! Exception was: TypeError: info is null
    JS ERROR: !!! lineNumber = '83'
    JS ERROR: !!! fileName = '"/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/extensionSystem.js"'
    JS ERROR: !!! stack = '"([object _private_Soup_SessionAsync],[object _private_Soup_Message])@/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/extensionSystem.js:83

for every installation attempt.

Expected Result:

Successful installation and extension is available to use

Actual Result:

No installation of extension.

Are you behind a proxy?
Comment 2 Fred Clausen 2012-07-11 07:50:52 UTC
Many thanks for your reply.

No, I have a direct connection to the internet and, as far as I know, my employer does not operate a transparent proxy.

Additionally, I upgraded from Fedora 15 (Gnome 3.0) to Fedora 17 (Gnome 3.4.2). The Looking Glass app did not show any error related to this - just about some other extension not being compatible.

Any other steps I can take to provide further information?

Additionally, I have unzip and zip installed.

Is this still happening?

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 12.04. I had plenty of extensions installed and customized on my machine. Following an automatic update of Ubuntu, all extensions had disappeared after a reboot. The only ones that remained were User Themes and Pidgin Integration, but they are both showing as outdated. I did get a warning after the reboot that only partial upgrade could be done.

I currently have the same issue being that nothing works in Gnome Tweak Tool (Advanced Settings before upgrade) and installing from https://extensions.gnome.org/ does not produce any errors, but nothing is installed. Removing extensions doesn't work as well.

Trying to start Tweak Tool produced the following error:

WARNING : Error detecting shell

http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1249720/

Please advise. Tried removing the extensions folder and reinstalling shell and tweak tool, but no real success.
