GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 679307
update user-status-pending to reflect changes in -symbolic
Last modified: 2012-07-13 18:45:06 UTC
The Shell is using the user-status-pending symbolic icon in the user menu when one IM account is connecting. This is a poor choice because this icon looks very similar to user-idle icon that Empathy is using when an user is extended-away. When no account is connecting, the Shell displays the current IM status of the user so one may think his status is extended-away while an account is connecting.

Right, but the icons have been added by Jakub specifically for that purpose (note that the metaphor for the idle icon has been updated appropriately, at least for the symbolic variant) Maybe the pending icon needs a different metaphor or the full color idle icon needs updating to match the symbolic variant, but in any case it's an icon theme issue.
The metaphor seemed more appropriate for the pending status (holistically taking the wifi and cellular icons into consideration). I have, however, failed to update user-idle in fullcolor.
Updated in gnome-icon-theme master. Thanks for spotting.
