Description Miguel 2012-07-02 10:24:10 UTC
In Ubuntu 12.04, importing photos from Canon cameras seems to be broken.

A few users have reported it in launchpad:

"Camera is detected OK, can display directories. But when I try to enter the directory with photos in it, the window stops responding and process gvsfd-gphoto2 starts continuously increasing its memory usage until I turn the camera off or kill the process. This problem has been repeated on several different machines."

See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/995886

I took the liberty to post it here, as per Sebastien Bacher's suggestion (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/995886/comments/12).

I can help out the developers to identify the problem - just tell me what to do.

Quoting the down stream bug:

The bug must be in gphoto2 as I get the same problem on 12.04 with gphoto2 commandline tool and with kio_camera.

So I think this is a bug in gphoto and might already be solved (see http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3541332&group_id=8874&atid=108874= )

This was fixed in gphoto2 as noted by Felix.
