In Evolution 3.8.3, trying with gedit (which does not make sense), and having gedit already running (which just creates a new tab), saving and closing that gedit tab does not update the content in the composer body. It seems like this requires quitting the gedit application to trigger the update. Specific workaround for this editor would be setting "Edit > Plugins > External Editor > Configuration > Command" to
   gedit --new-window
instead.
"Automatically launch" does not even seem to work without having a gedit instance running already.
