GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 677707
Custom shortcuts Shift+ or Shift- did not work
Last modified: 2014-08-06 23:03:41 UTC
I use custom shortcuts, like Shift+ or Shift- to increase or decrease the selection. This works well in 2.7.3 but when i use the shotcuts now in 2.8.0 GIMP act the same way if i was press + and - only - which activates the image zoom.
Works fine for me, what is your locale? Can anyone reproduce this?
I use Ubuntu 12.04 and GIMP 2.8 with german localisation.
Sorry I meant keyboard layout :) I'm on a german layout here and things just work fine.
Eckhard, what is your keyboard layout?
Hi Michael, i'm using a german layout to on a notebook Dell XPS 17". My description was not 100% correct: I'm using Shift+Num+ or Shift-Num-.
Meanwhile i'm using GIMP 2.8.2 from this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/gimp Using again Ubuntu 12.04 with german keyboard layout on a Dell XPS 17". I started with an empty, new GIMP user profile and tried to setup in keyboard shortcuts (Menu Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Select > Grow) the command "Shift+Num+". Here i'm getting the message "Shortcut "+" is already taken by "Zoom In" from the "View" group." But "Zoom In" has "Num+" only not "Shift+Num+". GIMP inserts on assignment only "+" not "Shift++". But assigning Shift+G for Grow works well.
This also occurs on the win32 builds of GIMP 2.8 . As another example, the key shortcut for the 50% Zoom command (Shift+2) does not work at all -- but if I manually map it to Shift+2, GIMP registers the shortcut as "@" (which is indeed what a Shift+2 produces) and then everything works fine.
We shouldn't mix different shortcut issues here - Shift+ the Num+/- map without problems for me and are displayed as Shift++ or Shift+- in the keyboard shortcuts editor. I can't reproduce the original report on either Windows platforms or Debian Testing.
Strata, you're mixing in a different issue here? Note that this bug has not been confirmed yet, and at least two people can't reproduce it. Please provide a way to do that, but focus on the + and - issue here.
Yeah... seems I'm thinking about #676494. My bad.
I'm resolving this as obsolete, if it still happens with current versions (2.8.10 as of now), please reopen.Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug if you can provide the information asked for. Thanks!
