I haven't seen any requirement to keep the input videocodecstate. (at least as per the current implementation)..
If it kept intentionally, then please just discard this patch.

Sreerenj, please prefix bug summaries with the component name like you do for git summary lines - that makes it much easier to triage and makes it less likely to be overlooked.
