Description Rich 2012-05-21 13:37:49 UTC
I am using GIMP 2.8 on Mac OS X 2.6.8. XQuartz 2.3.6 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple56)

I create a new image and before I do anything else, I select the text tool and click in the image window. X11 crashes.

When I respond to the OS dialog and re-open the application I see an xterm window with the message - bash-3.2$.

This happens consistently. I have yet to be able to create a text layer.

Not sure how to provide a stacktrace under Mac OS, but we would need one. :)
The Linux instructions how to use gdb for that are here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces

This is a duplicate of Bug 675837, and since X11 is no longer supported, it is also invalid.

As a temporary fix, please try upgrading to the latest version of XQuartz.
