example large message which causes preview pane freeze

I'm using Evolution 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04.

I read email using the preview pane. I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 (and then installed Gnome Desktop through the Software Center).

While going through email, the mail preview pane will freeze, showing only a particular email, even though I can still move around in the message list above. It seems to occur only after selecting a "larger" message (the messages are text). Once a message of some threshold size is chosen, the pane will show that message, but will not show any message (large or small) selected after that. I can double-click any message, and the message will appear as expected in a separate window. But the preview pane continues to show the former (large) message.

I have to close evolution and restart to return to normal preview behavior...but if I chose the same or another "large" message, the same thing happens again.

I did set CAMEL_DEBUG=all, and the first large message I tried spawned a bunch of "(evolution:3153): Gdk-WARNING **: Native children wider or taller than 65535 pixels are not supported." But subsequent tests with other large messages did not generate the same warnings (though they did cause the preview pane to freeze).

Thank you,
Tim

I have the same problem.

After viewing a long message (usually SVN commit message), the preview pane freezes. Moving to new message does not work with shortcut keys. I can select new message with mouse, it gets read status and is 'unbolded', but it is not displayed in preview pane. After pressing <enter>, message window is opened and I can scroll trough the whole message.

Using:
Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity
64-bit system, regularly upgraded.

Not sure how helpful "me too" posts are, but since the status is still "UNCONFIRMED" I thought I'd risk it.

I have this bug, but it doesn't seem to be related to the size / length of the message. It happens on both short and long messages. It only started recently - I did a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 with Evo 3.2.3 in about June, and the problem started about three or four weeks ago.

At the same time, Evo calendar (which I don;t use) seems to be taking up most of my CPU, and a huge amount of networking even when it isn't sending/receiving mail.

CTRL-M doesn't close the preview pane, but reproduces the message list pane in the both panes.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Evo 3.2.3

Thanks for a bug report. I tried to reproduce this with more recent evolution, like 3.16.3, and it works properly there, the attached message is shown instantly here. I consider this fixed meanwhile, the difference in the code between 3.2 and 3.16 is huge.
