Gnome-font-viewer's Chinese font-testing sentence needs to be changed

Created attachment 213871 [details] The screenshot of gnome-font-viewer, which is viewing a Chinese font called WenQuanYi Micro Hei (I hope your browser supports UTF-8, and you have a Chinese font installed, e.g. ttf-wqy-zenhei, because Chinese characters are used in the following descriptions. Epiphany browser have some problems displaying Chinese characters--maybe I'll submit another bug of that.) The current sentence displayed when opening a font is `我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体。', which means `I can eat glass, it doesn't hurt me', as you can see in the screenshot attached. I know that this sentence comes from a project of Stanford University, however, the problem is, it cannot show the details of a Chinese font. The traditional way of judging one's Chinese calligraphy skill is to write the character `永' (which means forever), because it contains eight basic strokes of Chinese characters. So I have chosen two sentences containing the character `永'. I hope you can choose one from them (better work with a person who can understand Chinese) 1. 开彼源兮，斯流永继。 It means: Open source starts from here and lasts forever. It is the slogan of Wen Quan Yi (http://wenq.org), I am not sure whether Wen Quan Yi likes that to be used here. 2. 指薪修祜，永绥吉劭。 It is ancient Chinese word from an article called `千字文'(means an article used a thousand different characters, it is the textbook used thousand years ago), which means: Do kind things during one's life, so he can last eternally like keeping a fire, and his children and grandchildren will live peacefully and happily. What a nice thing it is! Also, the problem is, it is as difficult as Shakespeare's plays, few people can understand it. ================================================================================ The most useful thing is, to let users themselves to choose the sentences. Thanks for your report! I wonder where the default sentence is stored. Cannot find it in the codebase. (Asking because this could be fixed in the Chinese translation only).

I tried these: 1. LANG=zh_CN.utf-8 gnome-font-viewer /usr/share/fonts/TTF/DejaVuSans.ttf 2. LANG=en_US.utf-8 gnome-font-viewer /usr/share/fonts/wenquanyi/wqy-microhei/wqy-microhei.ttc And you can see it in the attachments.

In the comments above, I proved that even in English locale settings, the sentences is still Chinese, (and in Chinese locale settings, English fonts still use `the quick brown fox'.) So it MAY BE not in the translation file. I googled for it, and I found that this sentence is also used in pango (and the font-choose dialog of GTK) Is it associated with pango, I wonder? And I think implementing the new UI is more important and useful. Why not do that first?
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).
