Empathy Messenger 3.4.1: avatars not showing [Windows Live protocol] [Ubuntu 12.04]

IIRC, the avatar exposed in XMPP is the one people set on their live.com profile, not the one from MSN. Something like that... anyway this is not our problem, we show what MS gives us. yes but in older versions of empathy avatars appear normaly on windows live. The problem is only on empathy3.4.1
The difference isn't really because it is empathy 3.4.x, it is really that the connection manager used by empathy has changed. Previously it was connecting to MSN and now it connects to live.com with XMPP. It looks like the issue is really that your contacts don't have profile pictures set on their live.com accounts. I guess live.com access to MSN accounts doesn't provide that.
