GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 675678
Banshee Creates Duplicate Playlists on iPod Sync
Last modified: 2012-10-16 09:51:25 UTC
Sometimes, if my iPod classic (120 GB) is synced with Banshee, all playlists are created once more. If I sync it e.g. 6 times (over several days), I have each playlist 6 times. I cannot delete them, because Banshee shows it to me only once on the iPod. The problem occurs on two occasions: If Banshee is not able to finish loading the iPod (the "Loading iPod..." message does not disappear), after a sync (complete library sync), the iPod contains each Playlist (smart and non-smart) twice. The other occasion is when Banshee does finish loading, but does not display playlists on the iPod. This happens from time to time and I did not find a reason for it. After the sync, the playlists are shown (only once) in Banshee, but they appear twice in the iPod. On my system, the error occurs about 2/3 the time, but I cannot find a scheme, when this happens. It occurs on Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 (both 64 bit), unstable PPA. I think the bug is possibly arisen in the incomplete/not successfull loading of the iDevice. I will try to create a debug log describing this problem. On the mailing list, another user reported the problem.[1] [1]: http://banshee-media-player.2283330.n4.nabble.com/Banshee-Creates-Duplicate-Playlists-Every-Time-iPod-Synced-td4569417.html
It seems to be a libgpod bug, so I crossposted it. http://gtkpod.org/bugs/index.php?do=details&task_id=116
Thanks for linking to the upstream bug guerda.
guerda, I think this may be the same bug as 684876, which I think it's a packaging bug. Can you test if by installing the new version of libgpod-cil package (0.8.2-7, instead of the old 0.8.2-6) it fixes it?
Hi Andrés! I recently switched to Fedora 17 (sorry, Ubuntu folks) and I have banshee-2.4.1-1 and libgpod-0.8.2-4 installed. With this combination, this error does not occur anymore. So your assumption may be right.
Fedora 32bits or 64bits?
Sorry for not mentioning it. I use the 64 Bits version.
Cool thanks. Next time you notice a bug only present on some distribution and not present on other, please bring it up. It's a good hint to find out if the bug is packaging related. On that note, can you then mark http://gtkpod.org/bugs/index.php?do=details&task_id=116 as invalid?
Done and done. Without your hint from yesterday, I hadn't noticed that the bug only occured on Ubuntu. So thank you.
Ah ok. Thanks
