Currently, nautilus stores thumbnails in ~/.thumbnails .  Please consider storing them in $XDG_CACHE_HOME/thumbnails (or ~/.cache/thumbnails if unset) by default.  This will consolidate cache directories, making it easier for backup software and other tools to ignore the thumbnail directory.
