GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 675512
tablet doesnt work on GIMP
Last modified: 2012-10-30 13:23:12 UTC
on input devices when you select the tablet as your input device and then save it doesn't save. also I think GIMP might think my tablet is a mouse. Furthermore bar just above the canvas, where there are black cursors which show you where your cursor is; on the top one it isn't aligned to the cursor properly and is often off the canvas completely but the side bar is fine???If I try to use in mouse form pressure doesn't work and I would like pressure to work.My tablet is a trust slimline design tablet, it could be that thanks in advance

also when you choose the tablet what is the difference between window and screen?
Window has never worked sensibly in windows afaik. So pick screen. There is a known bug about GTK tablet handling on Windows that It wont detect a tablet if it has not actually been used before starting gimp. If you have X and Y cordinates of a tablet behaving differently, it's probably drivers fault. Updating the driver may help. What do you mean it doesn't save btw?
When you save before exiting input devices, when you click save the window doesn't close and when you do close it and reopen it it didn't save and thanks for the advice but I haven't got round to testing that yet and I have tried reinstalling the drivers many times but it hasn't worked. Is there better drivers online?
Thanks for taking the time to report these bugs and sorry for the late answer. You're describing two problems: 1.) Selecting your tablet as input device doesn't activate it. 2.) The horizontal ruler doesn't show the right cursor position. To 1) To me it seems that you don't tell GIMP properly to use the tablet. Selecting your tablet in the list on the left side, saving and closing doesn't activate it. You have to 1. select the input device, for instance Trust cursor/eraser/pad or stylus, like you already did, 2. on the right side from the 'Mode' listbox choose 'Screen' and then 3. click the 'Save' and 'Close' buttons. It should work then immediately. To 2) This is a bit strange, indeed. Could you please try again with the current GIMP 2.8.2 you find at http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ and report back within the next 6 weeks, whether the problem still occurs?
