GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 674871
Changing alert sound only works once
Last modified: 2012-11-05 12:43:23 UTC
Reproduce: 1. Find out your current sound theme by invoking a bell, e.g. by running in gnom- terminal: echo -e '\x07' 2. Open gnome-control-center, select "Sound" and go to the "Sound Effects" tab. 3. Choose a different alert sound. 4. Invoke another bell. 5. Choose a different alert sound. 6. Invoke another bell. If you started out with clean configuration files, the alert sound has changed correctly in step 4 but not in step 6 and all subsequent attempts. The correct sound will play when you either restart the system or manually restart pulseaudio. This affects an updated Arch Linux installation with gnome-control-center 3.4.1 and pulseaudio 1.1 as well as Fedora 17 Beta. The problem did not occur with GNOME 3.2.
Mass reassign, sorry for the noise.
Created attachment 228100 [details] [review] sound: Remove use of never-defined HAVE_PULSE HAVE_PULSE was never defined so the sound plugin was completely unused. This would cause theme changes to not be noticed. Spotted by Lionel Landwerlin <llandwerlin@gmail.com>
Pushed to gnome-3-4, gnome-3-6 and master Attachment 228100 [details] pushed as 6c363c3 - sound: Remove use of never-defined HAVE_PULSE
