We suggest linking contacts if they look like they belong to the same person and are in different accounts. Currently we display a bubble which looks pretty bad. It's also inline, which could mean that it's not visible if there's lots of contact details displayed (because it will be below the fold).

We should do something better here. The current mockups suggest doing something a bit like an GtkInfoBar at the bottom of the contact pane:

However, I'm not entirely sure that that's the right approach. It looks a bit out of place to me. Ideas?
