Description cordier.julien.alten 2012-04-16 13:55:39 UTC
When we use the selection tool, gimp is slowing down during all the time the selection is activated (we can see it when we try to move the mouse --> we have a jerky move of the mouse).
This behavior was not present in Gimp 2.6.

Duplicate of bug #645345?
Comment 2 cordier.julien.alten 2012-04-16 14:34:01 UTC
Hi!

This bug looks like the bug #645345.
But I discovered this bug appears only in the active layer.

In my case:
- I have a .xcf file with around 100 layers. The biggest layer has a resolution of 200x200pixels with 72dpi (there is only 5 layers with this resolution, the others are usualy around 40x32 pixels).
- When I activate a layer (40x32 pixels), all is OK.
- If I use any selection tool (rectangle, circle or others) in the activated layer, Gimp is slowing down and the mouse has a jerky move.
- But if I do a selection in the rest of my picture (out of my activated layer), all is OK : the selection is done and the mouse has a good move, no problem.

I think it is a few different of the bug #645345... but it could be the same...

Regards,

Is that "rest of the image" fully transparent?
Comment 4 cordier.julien.alten 2012-05-11 12:42:47 UTC
No,
A part of the "rest of the image" is transparent but there is also some pictures of other layers.
If I do a selection in the activated layer, Gimp is slowing down and the mouse has a jerky move.
I downloaded the official Gimp 2.8.0 and the bug is still present.
