GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 674061
search should match keywords and not descriptions
Last modified: 2013-01-07 15:35:12 UTC
The descriptions contain unnecessary noise. Focusing on keywords would also help us to develop more effective metadata for settings panel search.
And what do we show in the results if we don't use the descriptions?
I think the descriptions are useful in the search results (as in http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=192314), so I would keep them for that purpose. I'll check in with Jon to see what he thinks about it.
The new search result appearance was already committed in 3.6. commit d48ba2d566faca61ea1ea34ca8b4aa5e4a97f9b0 Author: Bastien Nocera <hadess@hadess.net> Date: Mon Jan 7 16:08:21 2013 +0100 shell: Don't search in desktop description We use keywords instead. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674061
