Description ikke 2012-04-07 17:25:55 UTC
Hi

I upgraded my ubuntu 12.04 installation two days ago, and a regression hit me. I can't use delete, backspace or arrow keys on my gnome-terminal any longer. They worked fine still few days ago. Now if I press backspace or arrow-left key, the cursor moves forward and leaves a blank space. The backspace deletes the characters though, but it just doesn't show it.

See attached typing from the gnome-terminal:

---------------------------------
$ echo "i type this and press backspace three times"
i type this and press backspace three ti
$
---------------------------------

also ctrl-l does not wipe the screen correctly.

I'm running ubuntu 12.04 up to date on my oldish Mac PowerBook G4.

gnome-terminal       3.4.0.1-0ubuntu1

I'm the Dude referred to by ikke. My iBook G4 keyboard was fully functional before Ubuntu 12.04 upgrade and trial. The delete key along with the arrow keys all forward the cursor and put gibberish on the screen and do not go backwards. I have tried an external keyboard with the same result. Other text editors don't have this problem. Only the Ubuntu OS Terminal. Thanks.
