GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 672650
Changing a file's tags sometimes batch-replaces the tags in other files
Last modified: 2012-03-24 10:12:50 UTC
I've been modifying title, author and album tags (correcting typos, "_" instead of spaces...) and I've noted that when I change, lets say, the title tag for a file, then sometimes a bunch of other apparently unrelated random files get the new title too. Same thing with album and author. This is not happening always, but frequently. My collection is now messed up, and trying to correct errors with rhythmbox is no solution, as new errors arise. My collection is about 9000 ogg files. Not sure if I could attach something of interest. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10, rhythmbox from gnome3-team's ppa (2.96)
Run 'rhythmbox -D metadata' in a terminal, reproduce the problem, then attach the output here.
Created attachment 210472 [details] terminal session (with comments) reproducing the problem This is the output from 'rhythmbox -D metadata'. I could reproduce the bug after a while. This is what I've done (hope my English is understandable :S): - changed some files' titles, - The files were shown fine in rhythmbox. - I checked with and external software (Music Brainz Picard) and each file have and increasing number of titles: 1st modified file has 1 title, the 2nd modified file has 2 titles, the 3rd file 3 titles and so on. Each file keeps the previously modified titles - re-entered rhythmbox. Still ok there. - Removed those files from library. Rhythmbox re-scaned the folder and imported the files, but now all those files have the first's one title, reproducing the bug. (As I have made clean installs of Ubuntu, I assume with each install rhythmbox imported more files with wrong tags, messing up my collection)
