I'd prefer not to update to 11.04 or 11.10 if possible.  I really like 10.10 UI.

(as I have tested Banshee on both 11.xx versions and I was able to mount and see the device properly).

Is Banshee crashing or just not showing your iPod ?

I think the problem is caused by the fact that your iPod is not supported by the version of libgpod available on Ubuntu 10.10. Then libmtp tries to handle it, and of course also fails.

So I don't think there's anything Banshee can do here.
