Default key combination (Ctrl-Alt-L) doesn't lock the screen
Last modified: 2012-03-20 08:26:38 UTC
Description of problem: Pressing Ctrl-Alt-L doesn't lock the screen. I went in the Keyboard configuration tool and double-checked that the key combination for locking the screen is still the same and it is (by default, it is set to Ctrl-Alt-L). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-screensaver-3.2.2-1.fc17.x86_64 gnome-shell-3.3.90-2.fc17.x86_64 How reproducible: always Additional info: Distribution: Fedora
does Lock Screen from the menu work?
Hi Ray! (In reply to comment #1) > does Lock Screen from the menu work? Do you mean the menu in the top right of the screen? It doesn't have the "Lock screen" option anymore, just the "Log Out..." and "Suspend" options.
what's the output of gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen ?
(In reply to comment #3) > gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen > The output is true. So this means, locking the screen is disabled? To add a bit more context to the bug report. I was performing Gnome Shell and Extensions Test Day: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-03-15_Gnome_Shell_and_Extensions and at some point I wanted to lock the live session. So, is this intentionally disabled for live sessions? If so, why?
it is disabled because the live user has no password
(In reply to comment #5) > it is disabled because the live user has no password Ok, then there is no bug. Matthias and Ray, thanks for your patience and explanation!
