Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: nautilus Severity: normal Version: 1.0.4 Synopsis: Nautilus does not work on Ximian Solaris - huge memory allocation Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: general Description: When starting Nautilus on Solaris Ximian, it goes on a memory hogging spree. Nautilus tried to allocate almost 2GB RAM and was actually using 930MB of my 1GB physical (found out be using top and prstat). It had to be killed via command line. This problem has been reproduced by a colleage of mine on a another (similar system). ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-12-18 23:54 ------- Unknown version 1.0.x in product nautilus. Setting version to the default, "unspecified". The original reporter (jwaynej@usa.net) of this bug does not have an account here. Reassigning to the exporter, unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org. Reassigning to the default owner of the component, nautilus-maint@bugzilla.gnome.org.
If this is Ximian's build of Nautilus, you should take it up with them at bugzilla.ximian.com. I know that some Solaris users are able to use Nautilus successfully, so perhaps there's something wrong with the Ximian build.
Haven't heard anything back. I'm curious if the reporter has had any further luck with the approach Darin suggested.
Reported bug to Ximian, awaiting response. See http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18870 for bug under Ximian.
