Description cj_muppet 2012-03-01 10:11:21 UTC
I have a username@ymail.com account and the system just shows continually 'connecting'. I've tried the suggestions for:

Problem: Yahoo icon blinks constantly while trying to connect but never connects.

Possible Solutions:
DNS Problem: Change the yahoo server under Edit->Accounts->"My Yahoo Account"->Advanced from scs.msg.yahoo.com to 66.163.181.189
     -> There is no option for changing this value in 3.2
     -> I can successfully ping scs.msg.yahoo.com

Character Encoding: Change the Charset under Edit->Accounts->"My Yahoo Account"->Advanced from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1
     -> Had no effect

Firewall: Make sure your firewall is open to port 5050. If you can't use this port, try port 80 by changing as described above
     -> Had no effect

I don't think port 5050 is open, but I used to be able to connect to my ymail account using Adium from within the same network so I don't see why this should be a problem?
