GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 671040
Add Keyword for looking in both Gnome-shell and Unity
Last modified: 2012-10-30 18:24:12 UTC
Created attachment 208667 [details] [review] Add some keywords to desktop files following latest XDG spec The latest XDG specification know support the "Keyword:" in desktop file for making components way easier to search for in, for instance, gnome-shell and unity. People from the ubuntu community started to report some patches for it. Here is the one for this component.
Does gnome-shell actually use this already in 3.3/3.4, or is it just planned? Also, the list of keywords looks a rather meagre containing only "run"; what about "terminal", "terminal emulator", "command", "command line", "prompt", "execute", "shell"... ?
hey Christian, I think it's planned for the gnome-shell, not sure it's already implemented TBH. However, there is no need to repeat keys already in Name, GenericName or Comment. So no need for Terminal or Command for the english version for instance. However, prompt, execute and shell are good proposals IMHO :)
I don't think keywords should be omitted on account of them being redundant in the en locale. Got an updated patch?
