I contacted the maintainer (Patrick Wagstrom, CC'ed on this report for the record) and received the following response:

"Hi Andre,
Go ahead and close it. I haven't done anything with it in a very long time. Besides, mcatalog was a program to organize physical media and who uses physical media anymore?"
