GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 670652
No indication of loading contacts
Last modified: 2015-03-16 17:36:08 UTC
There is no indication of loading the contacts. When I started the application the list of contacts was blank, so I thought it didn't pickup my GMail contacts and closed it. I only understood it was loading when, by chance, I let the application run unattended.
I have similar (same) issue. I sync with online.account (google) and somehow it only shows 2 entries but no indication of loading anything else. If I search a conact, it will show in the overview display, but once I click it i get an error message saying Found no contact with ID <some_long_id_number>. My problem is version 3.4
Update to above comment: Searched contacts now open just fine (in 3.4.1 gnome update) but gnome-contacts still does not load my contacts.
My suggestion - put a progress spinner with the string 'Loading...' below it in the contact list pane.
The problem isn't that it just doesn't indicate nothing is loading; nothing gets loaded. Gnome-contacts is blank. Nothing,.... everything is listed in evolution (in fact too much, now I got EVERYTHING including google+ circled people...would be nice if only "my contacts" group was synced. I tried to remove online accounts, and readd it, but no dice. Only thing that happened : the ID error returned.
KTP, that's a different bug report, isn't it? This one is for the lack of feedback while loading, whereas you are reporting contacts not being picked up.
I guess the original comment isn't all that clear. I can create a new bug report, I don't think one exists for no contacts being loaded..
(In reply to comment #3) > My suggestion - put a progress spinner with the string 'Loading...' below it in > the contact list pane. Well, this should go into other bug, but in the mean time. Putting a progress spinner in the contacts list will make it to thin I think.
I have filed the loading spinner issue as bug 699341. If there is a separate issue that needs to be addressed, please provide some more information. What are you seeing exactly? A screenshot would be helpful...
The bug I reported is covered by bug 699341. Thanks Allan! I consider comment 4 to be referring to a different bug, though.
Can I get some update on this? I'm closing it in two weeks, if I don't get feedback. Thxs
