Description Dylan Borg 2012-02-21 11:58:28 UTC
There is a bug in gnome-system-monitor which causes it to crash at startup in machines with more than 4 cpu threads. In order to support processors such as the core i7 , one must set the cpu-colors variable to
[(0, '#FF6E00'), (1, '#CB0C29'), (2, '#49A835'), (3, '#2D7DB3'), (4, '#FF6E00'), (5, '#CB0C29'), (6, '#49A835'), (7, '#2D7DB3')]
in org->gnome->gnome-system-monitor by using dconf-editor.
Non-power users would not know that they need to do this to fix the
problem.

Can you please tell me the exact version you're running? This was a known problem in 3.3.4 but I think this is fixed in 3.3.90 with commit 6e966d0.
Comment 2 Dylan Borg 2012-02-21 14:22:58 UTC
I using version 3.3.4 as included in the ubuntu precise pangolin repositories.
