Description Jeremy Newton 2012-02-18 23:10:47 UTC
I would think this request is fairly straight forward; it would be extremely useful if the album browser could be sorted in various different way. Unfortunately it's a little hard to look through the album list/grid if there is wayyyy too many albums to look through. Sure the search bar can be used, but for touch screens or for those who like the visual/album art searching better would definitely love this.

For example under "View" there can be submenu called "Sort Albums" where a list something of the sort would be shown:
Sort by Album Name (the current default)
Sort by Album Artist (As in by Artist, then by Name)
Sort by Average Rating (Average rating of all the songs)
Sort by Album Length (Total length of all songs)

Maybe also a Reverse Order Option at the bottom?

I attached a picture to help describe my idea.

As well, if it's not too much work, this also could be useful for the Artist Browser too! :)

Thank you for your suggestion. It's similar to bug #561109, but with a wider scope, so let's keep the two separate.

It looks like the picture you mention is missing. I guess you forgot to attach it.

Oh my apologies I must have forgotten to attach this. Here's the illusion of my idea/suggestion.

what do you mean by total length ? total duration of total size of song files ?
Comment 4 Jeremy Newton 2012-03-20 22:43:31 UTC
I meant length of the Album in time. For example, 10 songs, all of which are 5 minutes long, would have an album length of 10*5=50 minutes.

Though on an additional note, one could also add "Album Size" to the list (as in number of songs on the album), either as a compliment or a replacement if more desired for memory reasons.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
