I think I know where the problem is - can you tell me what CPU do you have?
Comment 3 MELERIX 2012-02-06 21:32:57 UTC
AMD Sempron 2400+ (1.67ghz) Socket A.

Can you test if this installer solves the problem:
http://eternallybored.org/misc/gimp/gimp-2.6.12-i686-setup-1.exe
Comment 5 MELERIX 2012-02-07 02:45:37 UTC
now works ok ;)

btw, I noticed that the same issue happens with Dev Build 2.7.4 too.
Comment 6 grauerwolf55 2012-02-07 08:27:34 UTC
I tested the installer and observed:
It takes about 20 seconds, until "Welcome to GIMP Setup" appears.
GIMP 2.6.12 seems to work correctly but it is very, VERY slow. My (pretty complicated) sharpening routine which is my benchmark takes 60 seconds instead of 35 with GIMP 2.6.11.
System: Athlon XP 2000+ with XP and 1 GB memory.
Comment 7 Jernej Simončič 2012-02-07 12:09:18 UTC
Broken 2.6.12 stable installer has been replaced with a fixed version (problem was in mingw-runtime used).

As for performance, please open a separate bug for that.
Comment 8 MELERIX 2012-02-09 03:19:08 UTC
installer for 2.7.4 will be fixed too ?
Comment 9 Michael Natterer 2012-02-09 07:18:33 UTC
No, there is going to be 2.7.5 really soon.
