GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 669445
A way of turning Message Preview off by default
Last modified: 2012-05-03 23:23:00 UTC
In Evo 3.2.3, the message preview pane comes enabled in all mail folders, and the user can turn it off on a folder-by-folder basis, by going View -> Preview -> Show Message Preview. People generally seem to like the preview pane on everywhere, or off everywhere. If you like it on everywhere, then the current setting is fine. But if you like it off everywhere (as I do), and you have a lot of mail folders (e.g. I have around 700), then turning it off leaves something to be desired. What is being requested is a way of turning preview off by default. There are several possible ways of doing this. For example: * Incorporating it into the View applied by View -> Current View. Then the user can customise one folder to their liking, save it as "Messages", or maybe go Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences -> [ ] Apply the same view setting to all folders. This _might_ involve no UI changes, but rather the conceptual adding of the preview pane state to the folder view. * or a new checkbox under View -> Preview, to set a global default. * or a new checkbox under Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences, to set a global default.
