Obtaining the boiler-plate from the documented repository using GIT fails:

cgit.freedesktop.org[0: 131.252.210.161]: errno=Connection timed out
fatal: unable to connect a socket (Connection timed out)

Obtaining the boiler-plate from using HTTP fails:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/  FAILS
git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/modulename  FAILS

My firewall is disabled:
[root@hydrogen ~]# iptables -nL

Yes, freedesktop.org GIT seems to be down currently. Just wait a bit, it will be back :)
