RB debug output from the command line. The only input given was play.

Hello,

I've been an happy Rhythmbox user for many years, but suddenly it
stopped working properly yesterday. Invariably it crashes after
playing a track, no matter what. This is happening with version 2.95
running on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit.

In attachment goes the debug output, which I hope may help telling what is
happening. Any other thing I may do to help clarifying the issue please let me
know.

Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Hello again,

I installed rhythmbox-dbg and bug buddy and then reproduced the crash. Bug buddy simply doesn't show up. I then tried with gdb, after several tries I managed to get the trace, here in attachment. The commands where:

Play - it played one file and then stopped
FFW - no response
FFW - crashed (the window got blocked and grayish)

Anything else I can do just let know.

Hello again,

Today I tried to re-install Rhythmbox but even then this issue remains. Since Rhythmbox started crashing about a week ago, can I possibly revert to a previous version?

Thank you.

Enabling crossfading in the rhythmbox playback preferences will probably stop this from happening.
Comment 6 Luís 2012-02-02 13:37:56 UTC
Hi Jonathan,

Indeed this solves the issue. It didn't work immediately, it had to crash one more time before getting back to normal.

Since this is a workaround, should I mark the bug as solved anyway?

Thanks you.

Hello again,

This bug is back on Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit. It plays 4 or 5 tracks but crashes just as I reported initially, when it only played one track. This happens with crossfading enabled.
Comment 8 Akhil Laddha 2012-03-24 11:50:20 UTC
Luís, do you have crossfading in the rhythmbox playback preferences enabled ?

and instead of Ubuntu version, please tell us about rhythmbox version and provide stacktrace for the crash with newer version.
