You can only skip symbolic links if the target backend doesn’t support them. (Or cancel the entire copy process.)

It’d be better to ask the user whether the links should be resolved and copied as if they were actual files. Notifying the user is important, as the copies may need more disk space and behave differently from the originals.

This is a Nautilus UI issue. The underlying API [1] supports either following or not following the symlink.
